Vacationing in Sanibel Island Florida
Sanibel Island is one of the most beautiful and peaceful places you can visit in south Florida. When the residents of Miami want to get away from the lights and jammed traffic they migrate to Sanibel Island & Captiva Island. Known for its white sand beaches Sanibel is a great place to relax and spend some time with people you love. If it's a family vacation then Sanibel has many activities to keep the kids busy and help mom and dad enjoy their time as well.
Depending on how long you are going to stay on Sanibel Island you will want to make accommodations with a hotel that will suit your needs. There are several to choose from on the island and if you want simple yet adequate logging because you don't plan to stay in your hotel the whole time Sanibel has many places available. If your idea of a vacation is being waited on then you can upgrade your hotel accommodations to suit you mood. The prices range from inexpensive to beach front.
Restaurants are plentiful on Sanibel Island, you can find places that are not on any map and only the locals know how great they are. Since you are on an island you can get certain dishes that are specialties of the chef's who cook for the residences and vacationers on Sanibel. There are some familiar places too so if you have picky eaters in your group you can still find something for them to dine on. Food seems to taste better when you are staring out onto the ocean anyway. Enjoy seeking out places where there is outside seating and the staff is dressed comfortably. The higher end restaurants are available if you are honeymooning or want to try some exotic dishes.
There are plenty of activities to do on Sanibel; if you want to explore the island you can rent a bike for a couple of hours or for the whole day. You can cruiser bikes all over the island, it a nice way to take in a bike ride but also to enjoy being outside. If you prefer to walk there are trails, make sure to take some water with you since the weather is always nice and you don't want to get dehydrated. Upon entering the main part of Sanibel Island there is a shell museum that is very interesting. Patrons will get to pick a shell once they have toured the magnificent facility. Kids will love it because it gives a history of Sanibel and parents will be impressed with the knowledge their kids receive.
The attraction to Sanibel Island is that is peaceful yet active enough that you'll want to return very soon after your stay. If you want to visit a wonderful place that will help you to relax and recharge your life head to where Miami residents get away from it all. Book a few days at Sanibel and make sure to visit the welcome center, don't forget to wipe the snow from your feet though.
